Kyoshi Frank Verbakel
Kyoshi Frank began his martial arts career in 1987, and has continued his study of Karate under various Instructors, styles and organizations. Over the years, he has competed in various tournaments throughout the country at the provincial, national and international level. In addition to Shorin Ryu Karate, Kyoshi Frank has experience in White Crane Kung Fu, Kobudo, Iaido, Shito-kan, Goju-ryu and Jiu Jitsu. He received his Shodan in Shorin Ryu Karate-Do under Renshi Ken Verbakel in 1998, and his Nidan in 2000. Kyoshi Frank has been operating a dojo in Elora Ontario since 1998. In 2002, he acheived his Sandan. Kyoshi Frank also was awarded a Canadian Championship for Kobudo, Kata, and Kumute and World Championship in Kobudo and Kumite. Kyoshi Verbakel acheived his Yondan in 2005. Kyoshi Frank has been inducted into the World Karate Union Hall of Fame, and the Global Martial Arts Hall of Fame. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Global Martial Arts Association, and Director and Head Coach of the Canadian National Martial Arts Team in the World Congress of Amateur Athletes. Kyoshi Verbakel tested for and received his Godan in August 2008.
